Yoga & Mindfulness for Children and Families
breathe in peace. breathe out awesome.
Yoga allows children’s bodies to find harmony and a state of balance. When children listen to what their bodies need, they are more likely to find peace, comfort, and joy.
When a child expresses interest in something different than what I have planned during class, we can switch gears and get creative together. This approach promotes a team-building attitude, encourages creative thinking, idea sharing, and allows children to become an active part of the learning process. Yoga is adaptable to all interests and physical abilities, and it is both my job and honor to help children feel empowered, energized and excited to enjoy the power of movement. Through movement we are capable of releasing pent-up emotions, and can find more joy, flexibility (physically and mentally), and openness. Children experience stress on a daily basis. The world can feel challenging and overwhelming to navigate at times. What can help is noticing how one's body and mind are connected, and how we feel during those moments of tension or unease.
Mindfulness can improve focus and attention both in school and at home, as well as in daily life. It can help reduce stress and anxiety while improving children's abilities to regulate their emotions. By incorporating the practice of mindfulness into daily life, children and families will work on skills to foster impulse control, patience, understanding, tolerance, inner peace and empathy while learning tools to aid in conflict resolution and how to respect themselves and those around them. |
